General Requirements for All Programs

Clients must EITHER currently


Have a claim for Employment Insurance (EI) benefits

Have EI reach back benefits that ended within the previous 60 months


or 


Who have EARNED more than $2000 in insurable earnings and paid employee EI premiums on those earnings in at least 5 of the last 10 years

(Note: the 5 years do not have to be consecutive years) 


and


Must be PR, Citizen, Protected Refugee (with court’s decision)

  • All are Welcome to Apply, but priority focus groups are newcomers to Canada and youth. Support for language assistance will be provided



PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS


  • Currently receiving Employment Insurance (EI) benefits or Reachback, have had a EI Benefit within the previous 60 months or have earned more than $2000 in insurable earnings and have paid Employee EI premiums on those earnings in at least 5 of the last 10 years (Note: the 5 years do not have to be consecutive years)


  • Must be PR, Citizen, Protected Refugee (with court’s decision)


  • B.C. secondary school graduation or equivalent, or mature student status 19 years of age


  • Criminal record check (in accordance with the Criminal Records Review Act)


  • Referred by a WorkBC centre with an Action Plan


  • IELTS (Academic or General) or


  • TOEFL or


  • CAEL or


  • CELPIP (Academic or General) or


  • CLB PT


  • CELBAN



BENEFITS


  • Graduates of the HCA Diploma program are eligible for registration with the BC Care Aid and Community Health Worker Registry
