About the Training

The Health Care Assistant program preparing graduates for positions working in the health care setting for-profit and non-profit organizations providing a high level of frontline care to clients in need of assistance.


Admission Requirements

•BC secondary school graduation or equivalent or mature student status 19 years of age

•Be able to study online/ blended learning for Theory Parts Only. Weekdays, 9 AM – 2 PM.

•Be able to provide a Criminal record check (in accordance with the Criminal Records Review Act)


To complete the theory portion of the program, participants must have the following:

•Laptop or Computer

•Internet Connection (Ethernet/WIFI)

•Microphone, headset & webcam


Eligibility Criteria

•Unemployed or part-time employed (30 hours or less), or precariously employed

•High school graduate or 19+

•Be a resident in BC and be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Protected person with authorization to work

•Currently living in British Columbia

•Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN)

•Be able to fulfill the English language proficiency requirement

•Currently receiving regular Employment Insurance (EI) benefits or on Income Assistance (IA)


Credentials

•Health care assistant diploma (BC Care Aid registry approved)

•First Aid and CPR certificate

•Food Safe Level 1 certificate

•Workplace Violence Prevention certificates
