12 weeks of virtual and in-person training


Hands-on exploratory training in each of the following occupations: Automotive Service Technician, Motor Vehicle Body Repairs, Heavy Duty Equipment Technician, Automotive Painter and Automotive Refinishing Prep Technician


Customized essential skills training Employment services from PICS


Credential: Short Certificate (credits) Forklift operator certification


PROGRAM DURATION


JANUARY 11 - MARCH 30, 2021

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS


  • Currently receiving Employment Insurance (EI) benefits or Reachback, have had a EI Benefit within the previous 60 months or have earned more than $2000 in insurable earnings and have paid Employee EI premiums on those earnings in at least 5 of the last 10 years (Note: the 5 years do not have to consecutive years)


  • Must be PR, Citizen or Protected Refugee (with court's years)


  • LINC Level 5 and Up

Eligibility Criteria

Unemployed or underemployed Living in British Columbia


Not enrolled in high school or post-secondary training


Not actively participating in another provincially or federally funded labour market program at the time of training


Experiencing difficulties securing employment due to lack of skills training

PRE-REQUISITES

Canadian Language Benchmark level 6 or above


Grade 10 level English and Math preferred


Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail


Physically fit to lift up to 50 pounds


Not allergic to paints and chemicals


Ability to commit to 12 weeks of full time training with varying start and end times


Sincere interest in pursuing a related trades career including apprenticeship program
