Program Starting on February 16th

The "Immigrant Greenhouse Production Technician Social Innovation Project" is a

24-week Project-Based Horticulture Education and Training Program. Participants will receive occupational, employability skills training, and work experience related to greenhouse work.

Upon completion of the training and work experience, participants will be certified by PICS and Kwantlen Polytechnic University, and will be supported towards full-time employment that evidences their competency in all core competencies.


  • Canadian Workplace and Essential Skills Training for Greenhouse Industry
  • $300 per week living allowance Full work gear is included
  • Workplace Safety Certification for: Occupational First Aid Level 1, WHMIS, PPE, and Pesticide Application Agricultural Equipment and Forklift Training
  • Irrigation Systems & Production Training Plant Health Analysis and Maintenance Agribusiness Principles
  • Environment and Control Training
  • Work Experience (4 weeks)


  • LINC Level 5 and up
  • Essential Skills Numeracy Level 4
  • Referred by a WorkBC Centre with an Action Plan
  • PR, Citizen, Protected Refugee (with court's decision)
  • Currently receiving Employment Insurance (EI) benefits or Reachback, have had an EI Benefit within the previous 60 months
  • or have earned more than $2,000 in insurable earnings and have paid Employee EI premiums on those earnings in at least 5 of the last 10 years (Note: the 5 years do not have to be consecutive years)
